Hannah Montana ends her 15-year musical hiatus.
The (former) international teen pop sensation, played by Miley Cyrus, is out with new music. Disney and Cyrus announced the news in a teaser for the upcoming Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Specialscheduled to premiere on Disney+ and Hulu on Tuesday, March 24.
“Celebrate our 20th anniversary with special guests and the world premiere of a brand new song,” were the words that appeared on screen in the trailer. And the fans understood it immediately.
“Brand New! Song!” read a comment from Disneyradio.
“Hannah is back on top of the charts,” one fan joked in the comments, while another said: “A new Hannah song?????? that’s crazy.”
Disney announced the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special on February 17, with a look back at the series with “never-before-seen archive footage” and an interview with Miley Cyrus – who became famous thanks to the hit series of the 2000s.
Reflecting on the series’ impact, the multiple Grammy Award winner said in a statement, “Hannah Montana will always be a part of who I am. What started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and I will always be grateful for that connection.”
The special show will be hosted by Call his daddy Alex Cooper and filmed in front of a live audience.
Cyrus’ parents Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus (the latter of whom starred on the series as Miley Stewart’s father and Hannah’s manager) are also expected to appear in the special. THE Flowers The hitmaker recently revealed that Selena Gomez, who played Hannah’s nemesis Mikayla Marie, would also make an appearance.
