PM Shehbaz, Chinese envoy discuss CPEC, economic ties

Both parties recognize the progress made in strengthening bilateral relations and express their satisfaction with the ongoing exchanges

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday met Chinese Ambassador HE Jiang Zaidong at the Prime Minister’s House to discuss Pakistan’s economic ties with China and ongoing bilateral projects.

According to the press release, the Prime Minister congratulated Chinese leaders on the successful conclusion of the “two sessions”, thanking President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang and Foreign Minister Wang Yi for their warm greetings on the occasion of Pakistan Day. The Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s continued commitment to promoting the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 2.0, with special emphasis on agriculture, industrial cooperation and key infrastructure projects.

Ambassador Jiang expressed China’s appreciation for Pakistan’s resilience and reform efforts, offering continued support on trade and investment.

Both sides recognized the progress made in strengthening bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction with the ongoing exchanges. They also looked forward to marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations with high-level engagements.

Furthermore, the statement said that Prime Minister Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s role in promoting de-escalation and regional stability.

He reaffirmed the “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership” between Pakistan and China and the importance of close and continued coordination on issues of mutual concern.

The discussions reinforced the strong economic relations between Pakistan and China, underscoring their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in various sectors. The meeting also included Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi and Foreign Minister.
