The Constitutional Bench of the Sindh High Court has ordered the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) and other concerned departments to submit a report within two weeks regarding commercial activities in a residential building of Burns Rd.
The hearing, headed by Justice KK Agha, related to an application relating to commercial activities in a residential building in the Burns Road area.
During the proceedings, the SBCA lawyer informed the court that illegal shops had been sealed but some individuals had reopened the shops by removing the seals.
Despite the resealing, the seals were broken again and the stores reopened. Legal proceedings have now been registered against these people.
The petitioner’s lawyer argued that the court had previously ordered the SBCA to cease its business operations in the residential building.
He also raised concerns that the building, which is part of an archaeological site, was being damaged by the construction of shops, posing a risk of collapse.
The court ordered legal action to be taken against those involved in these illegal activities, stressing that action should be taken against those found to have violated the law.
The court also ordered the SBCA and other relevant authorities to submit a report within two weeks.
