Trump mocked British planes as ‘toys’ in latest dig at Keir Starmer

US President Donald Trump has once again criticized the military power of the United Kingdom, by sacking its two aircraft carriers.

Trump compared two planes named “HMS Queen Elizabeth” and “HMS Prince of Wales” to “toys” compared to their American counterparts.

The comment was made as Trump spoke at a White House cabinet meeting on Thursday, March 26, where he revived his complaints about NATO allies failing to offer sufficient support during the ongoing conflict with Iran.

He also claimed that the UK had offered to send its aircraft carriers to the Middle East, but only after the fighting had ended.

Trump said: “The UK said, ‘we will send,’ three weeks ago, ‘we will send our aircraft carrier,’ which is not the best aircraft carrier by the way.

“They are toys compared to what we have,” he added.

The president also attacked NATO allies in general, accusing them of doing “absolutely nothing” to help the United States in this war.

Downing Street has already denied President Trump’s claim that the UK had offered to deploy carriers, saying it was false.

The remarks are the latest in a series of barbs by President Trump against Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s government.
