- The Trump Mobile T1 passed through the FCC
- This is a sign that we could possibly see a launch
- The handset was announced in July 2025
Let’s go back to June 2025 and you may remember the announcement of the Trump Mobile T1 phone, apparently “made in the USA” and approved by the White House. Since then, we’ve heard very little about the handset, but it appears it’s still on the way.
Kudos to The Verge’s Dominic Preston, who has been patiently tracking the progress (or lack thereof) around the Trump phone. In a new article, he reports that he discovered a filing regarding the phone with the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
The filing doesn’t tell us much about the handset, but does indicate that it’s coming – FCC approval is something all gadgets must get if they want to go on sale in the US. It’s not really a guarantee that we’ll see the Trump T1 anytime soon, but it’s something.

As Preston reports, the filing says the phone’s manufacturer is Smart Gadgets Global, a company with a simple website. The terms and conditions page of said site simply lists instructions on how to write the terms and conditions — which fits the chaotic nature of the Trump phone project so far.
“American Pride”
Since we’ve heard so little about the Trump phone since it was announced, there are real doubts it will go on sale, even if $100 deposits were taken from customers (exactly how much is unclear). The phone was originally expected to launch in August 2025, although that clearly didn’t happen.
Head over to the Trump Mobile website and you’ll see that you can still shell out $100 for your own Trump phone, although at this point we don’t recommend it. Note that it now says “proud of the USA” rather than “made in the USA”.
Hopes that the product was actually real were raised last month when two Trump Mobile executives showed off the handset during a video call with Preston – but since then they have apparently ignored his emails.
We’ve already heard analysts doubt that the Trump T1 will ever see the light of day, but as we approach eight months since the originally promised launch date, there are still signs that it will eventually make its way into users’ hands.
