Gamers need to start saving now to get the highly anticipated PlayStation 6 (PS6).
Industry analysts warn that the PS6 and Microsoft Xbox will likely launch at a whopping price of $1,000.
The recent predictions come following Sony’s announcement of yet another price hike for the PS5. After a price increase, the PS5 Pro now costs around $900 in the US.
The increase in game console prices is due to increased components and manufacturing costs, coupled with currency fluctuations.
The same factors have been attributed to the rising prices of the latest round of increases, which affected the standard PS5, PS5 Digital Edition, and PS5 Pro.
Additionally, it’s unlikely that Microsoft’s next console, internally named “Project Helix,” will cost less, especially the 2TB Xbox Series X, which isn’t available for $800 without major power upgrades.
With prices increasing, concerns have been raised about the affordability of these consoles.
In this wave of price increases, Nintendo is an exception. Its Switch range remains at an affordable price. However, it cannot remain immune from industry-wide cost pressures for a longer period.
The PS6 and the next Xbox are expected to launch around 2028.
