- Meta prepares two new smart glasses
- The Blayzer and Scribe Optics shapes are designed for people who wear prescription lenses.
- Glasses are not cheap
Meta just launched a duo of new AI glasses styles in its Ray-Ban smart glasses line, and they’re designed for people who have prescriptions with designs meant for “all-day wear.”
These new Blayzer and Scriber Optics shapes support “almost all prescriptions” at launch (-6 to +6, with support for those with astigmatism as well) and according to Meta, they’re the company’s most comfortable AI glasses to date with over-extended hinges, interchangeable nose pads and optician-adjustable temple tips that will all allow you to get a fit more tailored to your smart specs.
I already think the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses I own are comfortable, but I have a few adjustments I would make if I could – the interchangeable nose pads, for example, would be a big help in better fitting my specs. The only downside is that these new glasses are a bit more expensive than Meta’s standard Ray-Ban smart glasses.

The glasses are available now in the US starting at $499, while in the UK and Australia they launch on April 14 for £429 / AU$709. Oh, and that’s before you pay extra for your prescription lenses (which cost different amounts depending on the strength of your prescription lenses) and for add-ons like these, which are transitional lenses that shade when you’re in bright light.
Choosing all the more expensive options, I found a pair costing $1,024 on the US pre-order page – although it looks like you can get a pair in the $599-$799 range if you’re not going all out and have less severe vision correction needs.
But hey, at least you get a unique dark brown charging case – a change from the limited edition beige and black cases we’ve seen previously.
If you’d rather splurge on Meta’s other glasses, a few new lens and frame options are on the way for these.
The Oakley Meta Vanguards are getting their first transitional lenses, which is a huge win for eyewear, as their always-shaded options weren’t ideal for darker days. They are also joined by Black and Rose Gold lenses.
Meanwhile, the Oakley HSTN specs have Dark Golf and clear to brown transitional lens options for you to choose from.
