- Salesforce wants you to think of Slackbot as another university that does the heavy lifting
- He can listen to meetings and proactively make relevant recommendations for you.
- It gets its data from Slack, Salesforce tools and third-party integrations
Salesforce has announced a “new Slack” in which its built-in Slackbot AI assistant can act even more like an autonomous colleague, with the introduction of more than 30 new features.
Rather than presenting Slackbot as just another AI tool, Salesforce wants us to think of it as a personal AI agent for work.
Slackbot does everything you’d expect it to do — like writing content, summarizing conversations, and answering questions about company data — but it’s designed to meet the worker where they are without forcing them to access other apps and interfaces to share context.

Salesforce wants Slackbot to be your personal AI assistant
TextSlackbot has access to three main sources of data and context: messages, channels and files within Slack itself; broader Salesforce systems like CRM; and third-party platforms via integrations.
One of the tool’s most obvious benefits is video calls, the frequency of which has increased with the rise of hybrid working according to new research. Rather than simply transcribing calls and producing notes, Slackbot can proactively surface live recommendations, “like pulling a specific Salesforce recording in chat the moment a customer’s name is mentioned.”
Essentially, Salesforce views Slackbot as “one interface for your entire AI fleet,” marking the end of standalone AI tools and separate applications.
“Slack is the operating system for work, bringing together humans, agents, data and applications into a single, reliable conversational interface,” explained CTO Parker Harris.
“The bottleneck is not intelligence,” the company explained in another article. “It’s shared intelligence.” In doing so, it provides skills to users, described as a set of instructions that allows other workers to access similar functionality without the need for expertise.
Slackbot is currently available to Business+ and Enterprise+ users, but starting this month the company is also opening limited access to the Free and Pro plans.
