As Pam Bondi steps down as U.S. attorney general, her impact on the national movement to “save women’s sports” has been praised by those involved in the fight.
During Bondi’s tenure, she filed DOJ lawsuits against the state education agencies of Maine, California, and Minnesota over policies allowing biological male transgender athletes to compete in girls’ high school sports.
Former NCAA women’s soccer player Sophia Lorey, now a prominent conservative activist and influencer based in Southern California, told PK Press Club Digital her reaction to the recent news of Bondi’s departure as AG.

“I am grateful for Attorney General Bondi’s leadership in defending women’s sports and fairness for female athletes. Her efforts reflect an administration that has made protecting women and girls a clear priority. From Secretary of Education Linda McMahon to Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon, I have seen consistent and coordinated commitment on this issue at the highest levels,” Lorey said.

Lorey was a leading figure in efforts to bring national attention to local controversies involving transgender athletes in Riverside County, California, at Martin Luther King High School and Jurupa Valley High School, with each incident resulting in legal action. Bondi then launched a Title IX lawsuit against California last July for its refusal to change its policies.
The Independent Women’s Forum, a political group that represents prominent women’s sports activists Payton McNabb and Selina Soule, addressed Bondi’s departure in a statement to PK Press Club Digital.
“Pam Bondi’s tenure at the Department of Justice has been extremely substantive and effective. During her tenure, the Department has advanced key public safety and law enforcement priorities, and crime reduction reflects a renewed focus on the rule of law. Attorney General Bondi has also played a visible role in one of the most pressing legal issues of our time: maintaining long-standing sex-based protections for women and girls,” the group said in a statement. press release.
