Prince Harry is focused on one key goal, whether or not his return to the UK receives an invitation from King Charles: the safety of his children.
The Duke of Sussex made it clear from the start that he did not feel safe enough to bring his wife, Meghan, and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, back to the United Kingdom after his police protection was unceremoniously withdrawn.
There has been a report suggesting Harry is expecting an invite to Sandringham this summer as well as “automatic” security for him and his family. Harry is expected to be back in the UK for a promotional event linked to the Invictus Games in Birmingham and to attend an annual WellChild awards ceremony.
According to a friend cited by the Sunday hours Harry would “love” to accept the invitation extended to him. However, The Mirror reports that this does not indicate Harry is implying he needs it.
While Harry isn’t opposed to the idea of schedules being aligned, he doesn’t go out of his way to ask for one. It is focused on the risk assessment verdict which is expected to be announced this year.
The update comes after royal commentators were unhappy with the implication that the king should extend the invitation to Harry.
Additionally, a friend of Charles was quick to respond to the report that if Harry “really wishes” to see his father, then it would be best if his camp “allowed such matters to be discussed in private.”
