Pakistan on Thursday strongly condemned Israeli aggression against Lebanon, citing loss of innocent lives and widespread destruction of infrastructure, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).

“Israeli actions undermine international efforts to establish peace and stability in the region and constitute a flagrant violation of international law and fundamental humanitarian principles,” the statement said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to take urgent and concrete measures to end the aggression.

He also reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the government and people of Lebanon during this difficult time, adding: “Pakistan supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon, as well as its peace and stability.”

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan expressed deep concern over ceasefire violations in Lebanon and stressed the urgent need for full respect and implementation of the ceasefire to ensure lasting peace and stability during a telephone conversation.

The DPM/FM appreciated Saudi Arabia’s continued support for Pakistan’s efforts to achieve lasting peace. They agreed to stay in close contact.

Iran on Wednesday sounded the alarm over violations of its temporary ceasefire with the United States following Israeli attacks on Lebanon and the halting of the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz.

Hours after the Pakistan-brokered ceasefire agreement, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said Tehran was preparing heavy retaliation against the Israeli regime in response to Israel’s violation of the ceasefire in Lebanon.

The warning followed reports of Al Jazeeraciting the Lebanese Ministry of Health, that at least 89 people were killed and more than 700 injured in Israeli strikes across the country earlier today.

Israel carried out its heaviest strikes against Lebanon since the conflict with Hezbollah began last month, even as the Iran-aligned group suspended attacks on northern Israel and on Israeli troops in Lebanon as part of the two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
