King Charles, who was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in 2024, is said to have made good progress in his health.
In a message shared in December 2025, on the occasion of World Cancer Day, the monarch shared the “good news” that his treatment will be “reduced” in 2026, which he described as a “personal blessing”.
However, there are rumors that this was a deliberate move to cover up any negative updates on the king’s health, as the real story is different from what it seems, according to royal experts.
Royal correspondent Robert Jobson pointed out that journalists were “pressured” by the Palace to “put a positive spin on the king’s health reports” when the reality was more “sobering”.
He told The Royalist podcast that Palace staff had only focused on delivering positive news.
“I think it was exaggerated in December. I think the Palace put too much emphasis on ‘good news’.”
The press spokesmen were saying, “Oh, that’s good news. “At the time, they were trying to tell reporters, ‘Don’t interpret it any other way. It’s good news.’
Meanwhile, royal editor Tom Sykes pointed out that since sharing the story that Charles was “living with cancer”, he had been removed from the international media pool by the king’s powerful press office.
“Indeed, I was removed from the international media pool by the king’s communications secretary after it was found that the king’s cancer was incurable, a fact the palace has since acknowledged. My expulsion was used as an example to intimidate other journalists into toeing the palace line,” Tom said.
He pointed out that since then the press has suppressed health updates in accordance with the “privacy rules” of the “powerful” king’s press office.
