Lovers of Malcolm in the Middle may have to do a double-take during a major appearance in the finale of the series’ four-part revival.
While discussing Malcolm in the Middle: Life is Always Unfairof which all episodes are now available to stream on Hulu, creator Linwood Boomer revealed how “big fan” Finn Wolfhard’s cameo came about.
“His agent called us and said, ‘Can Finn visit the set?’ We’re like, ‘Hell yeah,'” Boomer recalled.
“He loves the show, he’s a big fan, and we’re like, ‘Well, there’s a role we haven’t cast yet. Does he want to do that? I mean, it’s a small role.’ And he said, ‘F— yeah, he wants to do it.’ And we were like, ‘F— yeah, we want you to come, that would be great.’
In Malcolm in the Middle: Life is always unfair, Frankie Muniz reprises his character as a once angsty teenager, who is now his own father.
When his parents Hal (Bryan Cranston) and Lois (Jane Kaczmarek) demand his presence at their birthday party, Malcolm is forced to stop avoiding his dysfunctional family while trying to protect his daughter Leah (Keeley Karsten) from their chaotic dynamic.
