Chairs a meeting with Foreign Minister Amna Baloch to commend the ministry’s efforts during the negotiations

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar received Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong on Monday, the foreign ministry wrote in an article on X. “The discussions focused on recent developments after the Islamabad talks,” the ministry said.

He added that Dar “reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued determination to support dialogue and diplomacy,” adding that “Ambassador Jiang praised Pakistan’s important role in facilitating direct talks between the United States and Iran.”
“Both sides reaffirmed the strong all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between Pakistan and China,” the ministry concluded.
Besides, Dar also chaired a meeting with Foreign Minister Amna Baloch and other officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to commend their hard work, commitment and professionalism during the ‘Islamabad Talks’.

According to an official statement, Dar “appreciated their contribution to facilitating dialogue between Iran and the United States,” which the ministry said is “an important step toward constructive engagement and the promotion of peace and stability.”
Top leaders from the United States and Iran arrived in Islamabad on Saturday for high-stakes negotiations that followed a devastating six-week war that left thousands dead and pushed the global economy to the brink of recession.

Dar, a day after the talks, stressed that the United States and Iran should continue to uphold their commitment to the ceasefire as negotiations ended without a deal. “It is imperative that the parties continue to respect their commitment to the ceasefire,” Dar told a news conference.
Although no deal was reached, Pakistan’s role in bringing the United States and Iran to the negotiating table has drawn praise from both countries and beyond.
US Vice President JD Vance, while leaving Islamabad, appreciated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defense Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, calling them “incredible hosts”.

Vance added: “Whatever gaps there are in the negotiations, it’s not because of the Pakistanis who have done an incredible job and really tried to help us and the Iranians bridge the gap and reach an agreement.”
In the aftermath of the negotiations, US President Donald Trump posted on his Truth Social that the meeting took place “under the kind and very capable leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan”, describing them as “extraordinary men”.
The Iranian delegation also expressed gratitude to Pakistan, with Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei expressing gratitude to Pakistan for facilitating the talks.
