NYT Strands today (game #773) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #773, are…
- TOPAZ
- TURQUOISE
- OPAL
- GARNET
- DIAMOND
- PERIDOT
- SPANGRAM: BIRTHSTONE
- My rating: Hard
- My rating: 2 tips
After spotting “birth” on the board, it took me a while to connect it to the rest of the spangram and find BIRTHSTONE; I expected it to be a birthday.
From there, it was simply a matter of finding gems that represented particular months – of which I know a total sum of zero, although I have bought a few as gifts over the years.
It was kind of a struggle then, but the letters Z and Q helped narrow things down and point towards TOPAZ and TURQUOISE, plus OPAL – as they were sandwiched between them. Once I completed my initial discoveries, I was able to navigate the rest of the game, but even so, it took me a hint and I progressed at a snail’s pace.
