Pakistan has condemned Israeli attacks in Lebanon at a meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at the United Nations, calling for an immediate ceasefire and uninterrupted humanitarian access to the affected areas.

Addressing the ambassador-level session held at UN headquarters, Deputy Permanent Representative Usman Jadoon warned that the humanitarian situation in Lebanon was rapidly deteriorating.

He said ongoing Israeli bombardments, particularly in southern Lebanon and densely populated areas, were seriously harming civilians and leading to widespread destruction of critical infrastructure.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, Jadoon called Israel’s continued military actions a blatant violation of international law.

“The large-scale destruction of civilian infrastructure and violations of humanitarian law must stop immediately,” he stressed.

Furthermore, Pakistan condemned attacks on peacekeepers serving in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, stressing that such incidents pose serious risks to international peace efforts.

Underlining the urgency of the situation, Pakistan welcomed the steps taken by the Lebanese government to restore stability and strengthen state authority. He also welcomed initiatives aimed at de-escalation, including the proposal for a four-point peace plan.

Pakistan has called on the international community to intensify diplomatic efforts, ensure the provision of urgent humanitarian assistance and work towards reducing tensions to prevent the escalation of hostilities.
