“In the meantime, I would request a meeting of her family members with her. And also a meeting of Khan Sab’s family with him and that Khan Sab be transferred to the hospital for treatment,” he said in a message.
He also wrote that “the sooner the better. This is their fundamental right according to law. Their health condition is too serious and all Pakistanis are deeply worried.”
Imran and Bushra Bibi remain incarcerated in Adiala Prison in Rawalpindi. They were sentenced on December 20, 2025, to 17 years in prison in the Toshakhana-II case, which concerns allegations that the couple illegally kept a Bulgari jewelry set given by the Saudi crown prince during an official visit to Saudi Arabia.
In March, Bushra Bibi underwent a medical examination at Adiala Prison after complaining of pain in her right eye. She was reportedly examined by Dr Muhammad Arif Khan, head of the ophthalmology department at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). The medical report indicated that she had blurred vision and black spots in her right eye; she also reported seeing lightning in the dark and said she suffered headaches.

Bushra Bibi was diagnosed with posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) in her right eye. The report also identified myopia and astigmatism. After the diagnosis, Bushra Bibi was prescribed eye drops and medication, as well as wearing glasses. He was reportedly recommended a follow-up medical examination after four weeks.
Imran had also undergone a minor eye surgery in late January. Five days after the procedure, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said PIMS doctors conducted another examination of Imran’s eyes and, after obtaining his written consent, performed a minor medical procedure that lasted about 20 minutes.

Amid growing concerns over Imran’s deteriorating eyesight in Adiala detention, the Supreme Court took up the matter following a report submitted by his lawyer, Salman Safdar. The lawyer, acting as amicus curiae, said the former prime minister had lost 85% of the vision in his right eye. The report submitted by Safdar also stated that Imran had sought urgent access to specialist doctors regarding his eye.
Then, in March, Imran underwent another medical check-up in Adiala, after which PIMS said the former prime minister showed significant improvement in his vision. This followed a second dose of an intravitreal anti-VEGF injection. The former prime minister received a third dose of the injection at the end of March.
