Duchess Sophie marked the third anniversary of the war in Sudan with an in-depth visit to Plan International headquarters in London.
She joined youth advocates and government officials to shine a light on the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.
As patron of the children’s charity, the Duchess took part in a panel discussion examining the devastating impact of the conflict on civilians.
Speaking at the event, she described Sudan as experiencing “the most horrific human cost on the planet.”

Despite her experience working with women affected by conflict globally, the stories emanating from Sudan were among the most distressing she had encountered.
She then stressed the importance of sustained attention and international responsibility, saying: “No human being should ever have to endure such devastation and violence.
We must not forget them and I will continue to raise my voice wherever and whenever I can.
At the Plan International gathering, Sophie also added a handwritten message to a “thought tree,” writing: “Peace is the only option. The Sudanese people are not forgotten. »
