Prince William’s ally Robert Irwin rejects Prince Harry and Meghan’s offer

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appear to have successfully completed a four-day tour of the Netherlands as they received a warm welcome from Australians.

The optics of the visit worked in the Sussexes’ favor, bearing many similarities to an official royal tour. However, there was one particular item on their to-do list that they couldn’t accomplish after facing major rejection.

The Irwin family are extremely popular in Australia and, particularly thanks to the work of Robert Irwin and their amplified fame after winning Dancing with the Stars, they enjoy particular prestige in the country. So much so that Prince William made Robert one of the ambassadors for the Earthshot Prize, a deeply personal and important initiative that William took five years ago.

Therefore, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex hoped to meet the Irwins, especially the famous conservationist at Australia Zoo in Queensland. However, this was not possible during the four-day trip, according to New Idea magazine.

The source revealed there was “no ill will” towards the Sussexes from the Irwins and said it “wasn’t possible”. However, it is essential to note that they are all “fervent monarchists and fiercely loyal to The Firm.”

“Aligning with the Irwins’ noble causes is something Meghan and Harry could agree with,” the source said. But it seems Robert played it safe because he didn’t want to upset William.
