The terrorists opened fire indiscriminately during the operation, resulting in the death of a 10-year-old child, says ISPR
Security forces and law enforcement agencies killed 22 terrorists during a joint intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on April 21, the Army’s media wing said on Friday.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a joint operation was carried out during which terrorists belonging to the khawarij group, affiliated with the India-backed Fitna al Khawarij network, were killed following an intense exchange of fire with security forces.
The state uses the term Fitna al Khawarij to refer to terrorists belonging to the banned group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The statement said “Khawarij resorted to indiscriminate firing, which resulted in the martyrdom of an innocent ten-year-old child.”
According to the ISPR, “the arms and ammunition of the slain Indians sponsored Khwarij”, who remained actively involved in many terrorist activities in the region.
The statement added that disinfection operations are underway to eliminate all terrorists remaining in the area. The statement stressed that the anti-terrorism campaign under the vision βAzm-e-Istehkamβ, approved by the Supreme Federal Committee on the National Action Plan, will continue at full speed.
βThe security forces of Pakistan will continue at full speed to eliminate the menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country and such sacrifices of our innocent civilians further strengthen our resolve,β the statement concluded.
The National Action Plan Supreme Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, approved in June 2024 Operation Azm-e-Istehkam to eliminate terrorism and extremism across the country. The operation aims to eradicate extremism and terrorism decisively and comprehensively.
