Prince Harry was particularly surprised and confused when asked about his father’s upcoming state visit to the United States on Monday.
The Duke of Sussex has been in Ukraine for two days to draw attention to important causes such as the impact of the war in Ukraine and Iran. He was also asked about his role as a working royal and what it means for him to carry out his “non-royal” commitments.
In a conversation with journalist Chris Ship, Harry shared his candid thoughts on the conflicts happening around the world and how he urged the US president to work harder to promote peace rather than starting wars.
Toward the end of the discussion, Chris asked Harry if his remarks would impact his father’s visit with Trump. Once clarified, Harry assures that it would have no impact on the royal relationship with Trump.
“No, no, I don’t think so,” he said. “No way.”
Harry’s words still carry weight because he is still the king’s second son, even though he is not a working royal.
Although, in the argument, some royal supporters sided with Harry, saying he could express his point of view.
“I don’t know who needs to hear this, but Harry is a private citizen. He can go wherever he wants and talk about what he wants. You can’t just call him royal when it’s convenient for you to shut him up,” one user wrote on X.
However, it remains to be seen how the king’s visit will be managed after the shooting at the White House on Saturday.
