Crypto week ahead

Markets leave April with a plethora of macroeconomic events to watch. Four major central banks, the Bank of Japan, the US Federal Reserve, the European Central Bank and the Bank of England, all set their interest rate policies this week.

Above is a list of U.S. data, including first-quarter GDP and March PCE inflation, as well as earnings from Visa, Mastercard, Robinhood and some of the biggest tech companies, the results of which could either reinforce or soften the current tone.

Markus Levin, co-founder of XYO, told CoinDesk that Bitcoin enters the week “with strong momentum around the $78,000 level, and while the Fed is expected to keep rates unchanged, persistent inflation could reinforce a hawkish tone and we could see bitcoin return to the $72,000-$74,000 range again in the near term.”

Earnings from tech giants, Levin added, could also be a crucial indicator “to reinforce or challenge the current trajectory given their outsized influence in stock markets, while developments around U.S.-Iran negotiations will steer sentiment through oil and dollar movements.”
