King Charles and Queen Camilla began their trip to the United States amid growing fears for their safety after Trump’s shooting.
The royal couple arrived in Washington, DC, on April 27 to begin a four-day state visit to the United States, on the advice of the British government and at the invitation of United States President Donald Trump.
Buckingham Palace has released an update on the King and Queen’s first engagement to the US, but it has left fans “disappointed”.
The King and Queen viewed the beehives in the White House Gardens alongside the President and First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump.
According to the release, “White House hives were first established in 2009, serving as an enduring feature of the field in multiple administrations and producing honey for the White House.
“In 2026, First Lady Melania Trump enhanced the existing White House honey program to include a hand-crafted hive, shaped like the White House. During the summer, the hive is home to approximately 70,000 bees.”
However, fans in the comments section were not impressed with the first outing.
One social media user wrote: “Poor King Charles, Queen Camilla must appear gracious, professional and diplomatic in front of these two…”
“I pray that Their Majesties are protected during this four day journey. May God protect the king,” wrote another.
One fan took a dig, saying: “Looks like this is the first time Trump has seen them too.”
