Dua Lipa isn’t changing her views on songwriting because of criticism or fan expectations, as she shared in a new interview.
The 30-year-old pop superstar, who has always been more inclined to the dance pop and electric pop music genres, has heard her fans’ requests for more soulful hits from her, but that wouldn’t ring true to her.
THE Levitation The hitmaker noted, “People expect me to do sad, emotional ballads, but that’s not who I am. How can you expect melancholy music from the happiest girl in the world? That defies my purpose,” in a conversation with She United Kingdom.
Although Lipa didn’t give her fans soulful ballads like Taylor Swift or Olivia Rodrigo, she did provide them with summer songs like Levitate, dance at nightand more.
Reacting to her honest sentiments, fans flocked to social media and wrote: “Such a diva, I love her so much” and “her music matches her personality.”
A third replied: “I love Happy Dua.”
