Activision released a statement to clarify that the upcoming Call of Duty the game won’t come to PlayStation 4 and, presumably, will skip the Xbox One as well.
The developer has turned to X following recent speculation that a cross-gen release is planned for later this year. “I don’t know where this started, but it’s not true,” the new post reads. “The next Call of Duty is not developed for PS4.”

This would make it the first Call of Duty game for PS5 and Xbox Series X and Series S which is not also available on PS4 and Xbox One. Even the one from last year Black Ops 7 came up with these systems, although they are both over ten years old at this point.

Prior to this announcement, some rumors had indicated that the upcoming game would skip previous generation platforms in order to offer greater technical improvements than other recent entries.
This next Call of Duty the title is widely expected to be a new entry in the reboot Modern warfare subseries. The latest leaks indicate that it is titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 with a storyline that takes the Task Force 141 team to Korea.
Call of Duty The games typically release around October or November each year, so we’ll likely hear more about them in the coming weeks and months.
