- ShinyHunters leaked 106GB of stolen documents after ransom negotiations failed
- Although data is limited, victims face increased risks of phishing and identity fraud.
The Vimeo data breach that took place in April 2026 affected more than 119,000 people, according to new data from Have I Been Pwned? revealed, with victims regularly losing their email addresses and names.
In late April, Vimeo notified its users of a security incident that occurred following the Anodot breach, when the ShinyHunters gang broke in through third-party integration features and accessed Anodot users’ Snowflake accounts, including Vimeo’s.
Anodot is a cloud-based, AI-powered analytics platform that scans for business incidents and anomalies in real-time, helping businesses identify sudden sales drops, cost increases, or technical issues before they can have a significant impact on the organization and its customers.

ShinyHunters leaks files
At first, Vimeo thought the attackers had stolen technical data, video titles and metadata. It said that in “only some cases” customers’ email addresses may have been compromised. The company also did not know at the time how many people were affected.
Now that negotiations with ShinyHunters have failed, the gang has decided to release 106 GB of stolen documents.
“Your Snowflake and Bigquery instance data have been compromised thanks to Anodot.com,” the extortion gang allegedly said, according to BeepComputer. “The company has not reached an agreement with us despite our incredible patience, every chance and every offer we have made.”
At the same time, have I been pwned? analyzed the records and said they exposed the email addresses of 119,200 people and some names.
Hackers can’t do much with just emails and names, but they can send relatively convincing phishing emails or try to open different accounts in victims’ names. Therefore, it would be wise to be careful with incoming emails, especially those claiming to be from Vimeo.
