Oil prices rise as US, Iran test truce with military strikes

Oil prices soared and stocks in Asia fell Friday after the United States said it struck Iranian military sites in retaliation for Iranian firing on U.S. warships in the Strait of Hormuz.

Despite the exchange, President Trump insisted the ceasefire remained intact. But he also issued a stark warning to Tehran, urging it to quickly accept the US peace deal and suggesting that if the truce failed, the consequences would be dire. Iran, he said, would become “a great light.”
