Ready for another round of new movies and TV shows to watch at home this weekend? I bet you are.
As with last week’s streaming list, there aren’t many choices. Still, there is some great new content to discover on the world’s best streaming services. So I’m sure you’ll find one or more of the seven entries below, which cover a myriad of genres, to your liking. Good viewing! — Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter
Send Help (Hulu/Disney+)
Look on it
Despite the involvement of fan-favorite filmmaker Sam Raimi, I don’t think many people predicted that this castaway-style survival horror thriller would be one of the highest-rated new films of 2026 so far. With 93% reviews and 87% ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, that’s exactly what Send help which is now available on Hulu and Disney+, is.
Starring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien, it follows a sweet corporate strategist and her nepo-baby frat-boy boss who find themselves stranded on a desert island after a plane crash. Cue a take that is reminiscent Lord of the Flies – coincidentally, its latest adaptation also features in this week’s roundup – which shakes up the balance of power between them in an incredibly remote part of the world.
Worth checking out if you’re a fan of two-player games, gore, and tons of dark humor and nail-biting suspense. — TP
Lord of the Flies (Netflix)
Look on it
As Tom mentioned, a new Lord of the Flies The remake landed on Netflix this week, marking the first time William Goldman’s iconic story has been adapted for television.
The four-part miniseries was written by Jack Thorne, the Emmy-winning mastermind behind Adolescence. It also marks the screen debut of many young actors who find themselves stranded on an uninhabited island after a plane crash. Attempts to survive quickly descend into brutal anarchy, and while it’s a familiar story, I can’t wait to see how this adaptation plays out. — Lucy Buglas, senior entertainment editor
Greenland 2: Migration (HBO Max)
Look on it
Gerard Butler disaster movies are back, baby! Following the 2020 version Greenlandwhich is now available on HBO Max, the action picks up in the wake of a comet strike that has decimated most of the planet. Have a nice weekend.
This time, the Garrity family must leave the safety of their Greenland bunker to traverse a broken world in search of a new home. Obviously, it’s as simple as doing an assignment in a foreign language. Butler and Morena Baccarin reprise their roles from the first film, but keep an eye out for the kid’s sneaky recasting, as Roger Dale Floyd has been replaced by Roman Griffin Davis. — Jasmine Valentine, entertainment journalist
Citadel season 2 (Prime Video)
Look on it
Three years after the arrival of its incredibly mediocre first season, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Stanley Tucci and Richard Madden are back in Citadel season 2.
According to the plot, he’s back and bigger (but not necessarily better) than ever. In the latest Amazon TV Original outing, we find Mason, Nadia and Bernard hiding across Europe after last season’s finale. But when a terrifying new threat emerges, the three are called into action once again. After all, it wouldn’t be very interesting if we followed them on sabbatical, would it? All six episodes of season 2 are now available to stream on Prime Video. — kg
Legends (Netflix)
Look on it
Legends is based on the real-life story of British customs officers in the 1990s who infiltrated criminal organizations. Across six episodes, we will follow this group of amateurs as they risk their lives to bring these gangs to justice.
The entire Netflix series features Steve Coogan, Tom Burke, Hayley Squires, Aml Ameen and Charlotte Ritchie, who step into the shoes of ordinary people taking on a terrifying task. Just thinking about it already has me on the edge of my seat. — kg
Look on it
What do you get when you cross Hollywood legend Sally Field with a captive octopus, voiced by Alfred Molina? An incredibly faithful film adaptation of Shelby Van Pelt’s film. Remarkably Brilliant Creaturesit’s what.
Tova (Field), an elderly widow, works nights as a cleaner at the local aquarium, but her life changes for good when stranger Callum (Lewis Pullman) arrives in town to solve an old family mystery.
Am I claiming that a marine mollusk is Netflix’s new Hercule Poirot? Maybe. But where there are serious questions to answer, streaming Remarkably Brilliant Creatures is far from difficult work. — Joint venture
MIA (Peacock/Paramount+)
Look on it
We’re rounding out our streaming picks list with something that gives the best telenovela energy possible.
MIA follows Etta Tiger Jonze (Shannon Gisela), who wants to avenge her family’s murder and become the most powerful crime queen in South Florida. It seems pretty procedural…until you factor in the erratic vibes escaping from each episode.
Between epic violence and heartbreaking scandals, there’s a lot going on at any given time here. Luckily for us, it leaves us no time to think and keeps us on our toes during the process. You can catch it now on Peacock in the US and Paramount+ internationally. — Joint venture
