Mohammad Abbas led Pakistan’s fightback with a brilliant five-wicket haul as Bangladesh were bowled out for 413 on the second day of the first Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Saturday.

Resuming at 301-4, Bangladesh lost Litton Das for 33 as Abbas struck early to reduce the hosts to 338-5. The experienced pacer then struck again to dismiss Mehidy Hasan Miraz for 10, slowing down the scoring further.

Despite the steady fall of wickets, Mushfiqur Rahim stood firm with a calm and determined knock, anchoring the innings despite the collapse and ensuring Bangladesh reached a competitive position.

After the restart, Shaheen Afridi dismissed a well-set Rahim for 77, with Abbas inflicting more damage by dismissing Ebadot Hossain.

With the score at 384-9, the final pair of Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana added 29 runs to take Bangladesh past the 400-run mark.

Abbas finished with five wickets, while Shaheen Afridi picked up three. Hasan Ali and Noman Ali took one wicket each.

For Bangladesh, skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 101, while Mominul Haque scored 91.
