The Princess of Wales has shared a new update on social media to mark Mother’s Day following this week’s garden party.
In a video shared on Instagram, she discussed her role as patron of the Maternal Mental Health Alliance, as Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week drew to a close.
The caption read: “Proud to be Patron of the Maternal Mental Health Alliance. As Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week draws to a close, it’s important to reflect on the experience of complex motherhood.
Thanks to Karen from the Maternal Mental Health Alliance and Erica from Her Circle, Chair of the North East Council for Complex Motherhood. What a pleasure to see you at this week’s Garden Party.
In the video, representatives of the organization introduced themselves and spoke openly about their work on behalf of mothers facing various difficulties.
They explained the goal of their project by stating: “We are working on a project for women facing complex motherhood, defined as women facing challenges such as childhood trauma, substance use, and poverty.
But ultimately, all mothers experience some form of complexity, and mental health is of course one of them.
We know that many people who give birth will experience a health problem during or after.
This is common; a lot of people experience this, but help is available.
Talk to other women and there are many organizations. There are positive things that can be done to improve the situation and reduce suffering. »
