NA passes unanimous resolution commending armed forces for effective response to India during Marka-e-Haq

warns India not to misperceive Pakistan’s desire for peace as weakness; any mishap will be faced with full force

The National Assembly (NA) on Monday adopted a unanimous resolution expressing a deep sense of national pride and highlighting the unmatched professionalism, vigilance, extraordinary preparedness and resolute response demonstrated by the armed forces on May 10, 2025, in the face of unprovoked and unjustified Indian aggression.

The resolution moved by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar lamented that following the Pahalgam terrorist incident on April 22, 2025, in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), a “malicious campaign” was immediately orchestrated by India and amplified by its state-sponsored media to baselessly implicate Pakistan without any evidence or investigation, even though the incident was categorically condemned by the government.

He said the House condemned the fact that despite Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s sincere and generous offer to participate in any neutral, transparent and credible investigation into what was described as a false flag operation, India launched an unprovoked airstrike on Pakistan on May 6, 2025, targeting innocent civilians.

The NA paid rich tributes to the armed forces who, under the leadership and command of Prime Minister Shehbaz and Chief of Defense Forces and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, launched Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, providing a befitting response to the aggression.

The house lauded the courage and operational excellence of the Pakistan Air Force, which quickly established its air superiority and shot down several Indian aircraft, including Rafales.

He also expressed gratitude to all officers, soldiers, airmen and sailors of the armed forces for ensuring the success of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos through their courage, professionalism and sacrifice.

He further said that in retaliation, the armed forces targeted and destroyed the headquarters of an Indian brigade, air and airbases, including BrahMos installations, which fired missiles at Pakistan and killed innocent civilians. He added that the JF-17 Thunder jets destroyed India’s $1.5 billion S-400 air defense system.

The house also commended the Pakistan Navy for its strategic preparedness and robust response, which successfully thwarted the intrusion attempts, forcing the enemy to retreat.

It honors the martyrs of the armed forces who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty and inflicted defeat on a numerically superior enemy in all domains of warfare, including land, air, sea and cyber.

The resolution recognizes the contribution and technical expertise of Pakistani cyberwarfare experts in combating cyberattacks by Indian hackers, stating that several Indian strategic systems have been rendered dysfunctional. He also recognized the contribution of the entire nation, including members of the government and the opposition.

He said the House reaffirmed the nation’s unwavering resolve to stand with the armed forces in defense of the country’s geographical and ideological borders.

The NA also expressed deep sadness over the death of family members of political figures and paid tribute to the security personnel and all those who embraced martyrdom during the recent incidents of terrorism and violence.

During the proceedings, NA President Ayaz Sadiq informed the members about the death of Aijaz’s 22-year-old son Hussain Jakhrani and MP Muhammad Iqbal Khan’s 19-year-old daughter. The lawmakers offered prayers for the deceased and expressed sympathy to the bereaved families.

The NA also expressed sadness over the death of MP Sardar’s brother Ghulam Abbas, MP’s father-in-law Daniyal Aziz and former MP Farooq Azam Malik.

MEPs paid tribute to Lieutenant-Colonel Khalid Hussain, who lost his life during an operation against Fitna al-Khawarijand former Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa MPA Maulana Muhammad Idrees, who was also martyred.

Speaking to AN on a point of order, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said the federal and provincial governments were working round the clock to facilitate media channels and resolve their operational and financial issues to ensure their sustainability.

He further said that the matter would be looked into by the Pakistan Broadcasters Association to ensure that no employee loses their jobs. He stressed that job security of media workers was a priority, as was improving their service structure and benefits.

Tarar said arrangements regarding job security and improved benefits for media workers would be finalized through consultations, adding that steps would be taken to resolve issues faced by media workers in a systematic and structured manner.
