NYT Strands today (game #800) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #800, are…
- TUXEDO
- PALACE
- HAREM
- GAUCHO
- TOREADOR
- MARINE
- SPANGRAM: FANCY TROUSERS
- My rating: Hard
- My rating: 2 tips
Rare letters are always a good place to start a Strands search, but TUXEDO left me a little perplexed because I associate it with shirts and the “quite a pair” theme doesn’t seem to go with that.
The other rare letters on the board – a double Z, no less – were the key to finally getting started. Not that I’m exotic enough to know anyone who owns a pair, but I knew now, after purchasing PALAZZO, that we were looking for types of pants; or, to be precise (as I soon discovered via the spangram), FANCYPANTS.
My knowledge of fancy pants isn’t the best, so I opted for hints to buy myself the next pants and from here on out, I was able to work my way to a conclusion.
Can the world, I wonder, be divided into those who have and those who will never be seen dead in FANCYPANTS? Most likely.
Yesterday’s NYT Strands Answers (Monday May 11, Match #799)
