- The Punisher: one last murder will premiere on Disney+ very, very soon
- Fans shouldn’t expect a Marvel TV special

The Punisher: one last murderThe director of has expressed his desire to see the main character one day appear in his own film.
Ahead of the Marvel TV special’s release on Disney+, Reinaldo Marcus Green told The Direct that he and lead actor Jon Bernthal “would love” to see the fan-favorite anti-hero star in his own big-screen adventure.
Despite The Punisher’s growing popularity amid Bernthal’s popular take on the Marvel character, Green also admitted that it was up to the comic book giant to decide whether there was truly an appetite for a Frank Castle-led film.
Green’s comments came before The Punisher: one last murder debuts on Disney+ on May 12 in North and South America, and May 13 everywhere else. And, in the weeks leading up to the release, some fans were optimistic that Marvel’s next special presentation would be a TV movie in all but name.
However, these hopes were dashed recently as, with its end credits included, One last murderThe running time is only 48 minutes. With the Marvel Phase 6 project which would also take place around the events of Daredevil: Born Again season 2, the TV special starring Bernthal appears to be an episodic expansion of the aforementioned show, rather than a standalone feature-length story.
Regardless, Green stated his belief that Bernthal and Marvel could “come together” and develop a Punisher film – one that Green said would undoubtedly be “worthy of what audiences would want to see from this character” – if there was demand for a follow-up film. One last murderthe launch.
“I can’t talk about it,” he said when asked if there had been any discussions about a Punisher movie. “I don’t know what the plans are for the Punisher’s future.
“The only thing we hope we can accomplish is the demand for more if we can accomplish this. Hopefully Jon and Marvel will come together to create something that is worthy of what audiences would want to see from this character in the future.
“For my part, I know that Jon and I would love to make a movie, something that could be shown around the world and be on screens everywhere. But, obviously, that will be Marvel’s decision.”
Of course, this won’t be the last time we see Bernthal Castle in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) – and, oddly enough, it will debut on the big screen in the near future. Indeed, The Punisher will play an active role in Spider-Man: A Whole New Daywhich will be released in theaters worldwide on July 31. He may not be about to star in his own movie, but Castle’s big screen debut in the MCU is just around the corner.
