The famous annual Tiger Woods golf event, The Genesis Invitational, is moved from Los Angeles to San Diego after devastating forest fires damaged the original route.
The PGA announced Friday that the event would move to 123 miles south of the Torrey Pines golf course in the Jolla district of San Diego, the Farmers Open Insurance site this week.
Woods says that the event will be a platform to help victims of fire.

“We are grateful to the city of San Diego and Torrey Pines to have welcomed the Genesis Invitational 2025 and to all those who contacted the tournament,” Woods said in a statement. “While Riviera remains the home of The Genesis Invitational, we are impatient to play on another championship caliber golf course this year and to use the tournament to support people affected by fires in the Los Angeles region. “”

PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan also expressed his gratitude.
“Our thanks to Tiger Woods, TGR Live and Genesis for their leadership in these efforts,” said Monahan. “We are grateful to farmers’ insurance, [San Diego Mayor] Todd Gloria and the city of San Diego and the Century Club for having extended the invitation to move the Genesis invitation to Torrey Pines. “”
“Highlighting the resilience of Los Angeles and the need for continuous support for the current recovery efforts is what our collective teams are working with the game of the Genesis Invitational in Torrey Pines,” added Monahan in his declaration .
The Riviera Country Club, where the event was originally supposed to be played, was not destroyed by fires. However, it deals with power and water problems, and the tournament is sheltered from fire victims.
The Genesis Invitational should return to the Riviera Country Club in 2026.
