A boxer was knocked out in the first five seconds of a fight Friday, but many fans waved red flags.

Edwin Castillo, 23, lost his fight to Viktor Jurk, 26, in a heavyweight bout on the undercard of Karen Chukhadzhian against Paddy Donovan in Germany.

Jurk landed a devastating left hook just as the two met in the middle of the ring, and Castillo went straight to the canvas.

Jurk was rather nonchalant after the punch as Castillo lay on the ground, prompting an announcer to say that doctors should be in the ring.

Medical staff tended to Castillo as the referee walked away, but fans were quick to notice some oddities in the brief fight.

Jurk was almost immediately called out for tricking Castillo into touching his gloves, as a sign of respect, at the start of the fight. They touched gloves before the bell rang.

“He was trying to touch gloves and got punched (sic),” wrote one X user.

“He ignored the gentleman who tapped to put that hook in. It’s super unfair…” wrote another.

“Looks like the guy in the blue trunks put on a glove to hit to show sportsmanship, then when the guy in red went to hit the blue trunks swung with his other hand,” said another.

However, others believed it was all part of a plan by both fighters.

“Wrong like that, look how he lowered his arm to break his fall, he should be on the Olympic swim team with a dive like that,” one reviewer wrote.

Another said: “For noobs. This is called “diving”.

Others noted that Jurk’s punch did not land solidly on Castillo’s head or face. Nonetheless, Castillo remained on the canvas for more than two minutes.

In any case, it was the 12th knockout of Jurk’s career as he improved to 14-0. Castillo is now 13-3, with three losses coming in his last four fights.
