  • India’s geography will be changed if it attempts a misadventure: Asif.
  • According to New Delhi, it now faces embarrassment on foreign fronts.
  • Pakistan has acquired a “high reputation status” in the region: defense czar.

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif on Monday warned that India will be part of history and its geography will be changed if it attempts any misadventure against Pakistan in future.

The Minister of Defense made powerful remarks during PK Press Club News program “Capital discussion” in the backdrop of Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi’s recent provocative statement.

Objecting to the Indian Army chief’s recent provocative remarks, the defense czar said General Dwivedi was trying to “regain the respect he lost” after the humiliating defeat in the 19-day military conflict, which lasted from April 22 to May 10, 2025.

In response to Indian aggression, Pakistani armed forces launched a large-scale retaliatory military action, called “Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos”, and targeted several Indian military targets in several regions.

Pakistan shot down eight Indian fighter jets, including Rafale, and dozens of drones. After at least 87 hours, the war between the two nuclear-armed nations ended on May 10 with a U.S.-brokered ceasefire agreement.

“As a nation, India feels its esteem has been damaged,” Asif said.

The minister said New Delhi was now facing embarrassments on foreign fronts, adding that Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka, which India considered its “extension”, no longer had the same relations with it as before.

On the other hand, he said Pakistan had acquired “a highly reputed status” in the region, adding that it was difficult for New Delhi to digest.

Asked about a possible tie between India and Israel against Pakistan, the minister said Tel Aviv did not want anyone more powerful in this region than its partner India.

He argued that there could be a resemblance in the goals of India and Israel.

Replying to another question, the minister said there was a division between India’s military and civilian leadership.

He was referring to the contradictory statements of Indian Army Chief and RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale.

Last week, RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, considered the second leader of the organisation, had said that India should continue its diplomatic relations with Pakistan.

Replying to another question, the minister said that the Indus Water Treaty had been operating successfully for 66 years, adding that it was one of the oldest agreements and contained a dispute resolution mechanism.

He also welcomed a new ruling by the Court of Arbitration under the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), saying the verdict was in favor of Pakistan.

The Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in The Hague had upheld its earlier ruling supporting the continued validity of the IWT, ruling that India could not unilaterally suspend the agreement.
