Assassin’s Creed Black Flag resynced Creative director Paul Fu revealed that the remake of the 2013 game is built from the ground up and contains very little of the original code.
In an interview with TechRadar Gaming during a Assassin’s Creed Black Flag resynced preview event in Paris, Fu explained how the team evolved the game’s original content, including adding new music in addition to modernized mechanics and additional story content for supporting characters.
Ubisoft said the game was being built from the ground up, but when asked to what extent, Fu said that while he can’t say with 100% certainty, there is “probably almost nothing” of the original game’s code remaining in the upcoming remake.
The developer explained that Ubisoft’s Anvil Engine is constantly evolving, and even changed after last year’s launch. Shadows of Assassin’s Creed.
“A lot of things are made with the all-new Anvil [engine]”, said Fu. “And since Originsthe engine has changed radically, and since The shadows, this has changed dramatically again. So it’s very difficult for me to be sure, but almost everything had to be rebuilt.”
When asked to clarify what he meant by “rebuilt”, Fu responded that things had to be designed from “nothing to something” and “developed”, which included the combat system.
“I mean, sure, there are some things that we have, like locomotion and parkour, stealth as a base, but for the combat system, for example, we had to really take it apart and rebuild the combat system the way we wanted,” Fu said.
The official Resynchronized Black Flag The announcement has been a long time coming, after months of leaks and rumors, but fans can finally play the game when it launches on July 9 on PS5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC.
