The Czech skier Tereza Nova, who represented her country during four Olympic races in 2022, was placed in an artificial coma after having had to undergo an operation in the brain on Saturday following a drop down to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, in Germany.
Nova was at her last training session on Friday when she crashed on the Kandahar’s journey.

The Czech Ski Federation said that Nova needed surgery to reduce brain swelling and that it will remain in a medically caused coma as long as the medical team deems it necessary “.

“We all think of Tereza and wish him a speedy recovery and a lot of strength,” the ski federation said on Saturday.
Nova, 26, participated in four races at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2022.
Its best result was a 14th place during the Alpine female combined event. She also contributed in parallel in mixed teams, where she also finished 14th, in female descent (28th) and in female super-G (33rd).
Nova has also participated in World Cup races since 2019, where she made her debut in November, even if she did not qualify for the second round of the slalom test in Levi.

The international beginnings of Nova took place in December 2014 and she will participate in the junior world championships in Val di Fassa five years later.
