Actor and model Momina Iqbal on Friday approached police seeking registration of a first information report against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MP Saqib Chadhar over allegations of harassment, blackmail and death threats.

In the application filed with Chung police station in Lahore, she alleged that the lawmaker called her and her fiancé and made threats.

Iqbal claimed that the politician resorted to slanderous language after she refused his marriage proposal when she found out that the MPA was already married to two women.

She further alleged that after this refusal, Chadhar started blackmailing her. The application also referred to WhatsApp messages and video calls allegedly made by the accused.

According to the actor, similar threatening messages were also sent to his sister’s phone.

According to reports, Iqbal, along with her lawyers, went to Chung police station and informed Station House Officer (SHO) Faheem Imdad about the matter.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said any attempt to use political influence, pressure or threats to secure the publication of “personal contents” in the case involving Momina and Chadhar would be met with “firm and uncompromising action”.

In an earlier social media post tagging PML-N leaders, Iqbal claimed that she had been facing “online harassment, cyberbullying and death threats for a long time”.

She said she and her family suffered mental stress and trauma due to the alleged actions of the MPA, whose name she has not mentioned publicly.

“A provincial assembly member belonging to the PML-N has been threatening me for a prolonged period. I have reported the matter to the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency and the Federal Investigation Agency several times, but no action has been taken,” Iqbal said.

“Instead of ensuring justice is done, attempts were allegedly made to suppress my complaints. Even individuals associated with the chief minister’s office tried to discourage me and muzzle the issue rather than allowing a fair investigation,” the actor alleged.
