Shehbaz hails Chinese President Xi’s visionary leadership

HANGZHOU:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Wang Hao, Party Secretary of the Zhejiang CPC Provincial Committee in Hangzhou on Saturday and discussed issues related to bilateral cooperation.

Wang Hao welcomed the Prime Minister to Zhejiang Province. The premier appreciated the remarkable development achievements of Zhejiang Province and praised President Xi Jinping’s visionary leadership during his tenure as Party Secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the CPC, especially the concept that “clear waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets.”

He said Zhejiang’s development provides an important example of how ecological conservation, green development and high-quality economic growth can advance in a mutually reinforcing manner.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan attaches great importance to strengthening cooperation with Zhejiang province, especially in the areas of digital economy, e-commerce, information technology, telecommunications, agriculture, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing and skill development.

He noted that provincial cooperation was an important pillar of Pakistan-China relations and could play an important role in advancing CPEC Phase II through industrial cooperation, agricultural modernization, technological collaboration and export-oriented development.

The Prime Minister attended the signing of two cooperation documents. The first was a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on establishing a twinning relationship between Zhejiang Province and Punjab Province. The MoU aims to promote cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, agriculture, education, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.

The Prime Minister also witnessed the signing of a document of understanding between Hangzhou Normal University and the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing for the establishment of the China-Pakistan Joint Technology Research Center within the university.

The Center will encourage academic cooperation, applied research, technological exchanges and institutional ties between Pakistan and China.
