Security forces killed 11 terrorists during a series of intelligence-based operations (IBOs) carried out over the last 48 hours in Datta Khel area of North Waziristan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the Army’s media wing said on Sunday.
A statement from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said security forces engaged “several Khawarij locations” in the area, leading to “intense and fierce exchanges of fire.”
« 11 khawarij owned by sponsored Indians Fitna al-Khawarij were effectively neutralized during the operations,” he added.
In continuation of a series of intelligence-led operations, over the last forty-eight hours, security forces engaged several locations of Khwarijs in the general area of Datta Khel in the North Waziristan district.

Fitna al-Khawarija term used by the state to refer to terrorists associated with the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
The statement further added that arms and ammunition were recovered from the terrorists, who had been “actively involved in many terrorist activities in the region”.
The army said disinfection operations were continuing to eliminate all remaining terrorists from the area.
The ISPR said that the anti-terrorism campaign carried out under the Azm-e-Istehkam this framework would continue “at full speed to eliminate from the country the threat of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism”.

The day before, in a joint operation, law enforcement agencies (LEA), security forces and members of local militias neutralized at least twenty-five terrorists, including a commander belonging to the banned group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), in Bannu.
A police officer and a volunteer were martyred, while five people, including a child, were injured during the operation.
Last week, security forces also killed 22 terrorists during a disinfection operation also carried out in North Waziristan district.
The KP has been battling terrorism since the US ouster from Afghanistan, with terrorists often crossing the border to target police convoys and vehicles, leading to the deaths of several officials and personnel.
The Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies said in a report that 85 verified terrorist attacks were recorded in April, compared to 146 in March, a drop of 42 percent, while the number of victims of such attacks fell from 106 to 60, continuing a downward trajectory that began the previous month.
The report attributes the improvement to Pakistan’s cross-border military campaign against terrorist groups and Taliban positions between February 26 and March 18, which subsequently resulted in a suspension of hostilities and talks in Urumqi, China.
