THE UNITED NATIONS:

Amid a dangerous escalation of the war in Ukraine following a wave of large-scale Russian strikes, Pakistan has called for an “immediate and complete” cessation of hostilities between the two sides to end the conflict.

Speaking at a session of the United Nations Security Council, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad highlighted the need to protect millions of people whose lives and livelihoods have been severely disrupted by the ongoing war.

“The recent escalation demonstrates once again the imperative for a peaceful settlement,” Ambassador Ahmad told the United Nations Security Council.
