Cisco wants businesses to be ready when bad actors inevitably start using Mythos in their cyberattacks. In this context, being ready means having your own army of robots, and preferably provided by Cisco itself.

Earlier this week, the networking giant announced a new suite of tools called Cisco Cloud Control. These tools will allow companies to build their own army of AI agents, responsible for monitoring systems and blocking any attempts at exploitation.

“You can’t do things at human scale anymore,” said DJ Sampath, senior vice president and general manager of AI software and platforms at Cisco. PK Press Club. “It has to be machine scale, from an operational point of view.”

Prepare for the myth

Cisco says companies will want to use AI coding tools to create these bots, which is why it’s rolling out a marketplace where users can choose different solutions, such as OpenAI’s Codex. This one, for example, will be integrated directly into the Cloud Control platform, and others are expected to be added as well.

The suite is now available in North America, while the marketplace for third-party tools is expected to launch in the second half of the year. Cisco is currently working on the economics, as it wants to take a share of the sales. It is not yet clear how big the reduction will be:

“We are working on the economy,” Sampath added. “You have to expect some of the economics to be favorable for us, because it costs a significant amount of money to be able to exploit all of those things.”

In early April of this year, Anthropic released Mythos Preview, a cybersecurity-oriented AI model that was reportedly capable of revealing decades-old vulnerabilities in fully patched systems used today by some of the largest companies. Not only that, but it was also able to create working exploits, which is why Anthropic decided not to make it public for now.

However, after more than two months of confinement, it seems that Mythos could see the light of day in the coming weeks.
