Information Minister Attaullah Tarar on Thursday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting the rights of minorities during a meeting with a delegation representing the Christian community, the state television channel reported. PTV reported.
The delegation met with Minister of Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar and Minister of Information Attaullah Tarar, where they had in-depth discussions on minority rights, legal reforms and the welfare of the Christian community.
The meeting included an in-depth exchange of views on issues related to minority rights, legal reforms and social welfare, with particular emphasis on issues concerning the Christian community. The two sides agreed to establish an effective mechanism to resolve problems related to Christian personal laws and other issues.
During the meeting, the Minister of Information said that consultation with minority representatives ensured that “the needs of all citizens are taken into account in legislation and policy-making.”

He added that the government was committed to promoting interfaith harmony, equality of citizens and an inclusive society, emphasizing the vision of a country where “every Pakistani can contribute to national development without discrimination.”
Azam said: “Comprehensive legal and policy reforms through consultations are of great importance,” adding that the government remained committed to ensuring “equal rights and opportunities for all citizens.”
The delegation “appreciated the government’s continued commitment to protecting the rights of minority communities.” He also welcomed recent legislation, particularly the Child Marriage Restraint Act, and praised the government’s efforts to “protect minorities and promote equal opportunities.”
The delegation further recognized the government’s initiatives aimed at safeguarding the rights of minorities and improving access to equal opportunities.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed the issues facing the Christian community and discussed solutions through relevant legal and policy frameworks.
It was agreed to review the recommendations and, in accordance with the discussions, “develop an effective mechanism to resolve problems related to Christian personal laws and other issues.”
