Prince William, head of the English Football Association, is known to be an avid fan of the sport. Meanwhile, the sporty Princess Kate also loves attending such events.
With the Prince and Princess of Wales set to make their first joint tour for the Earthshot Prize later this year, speculation is swirling that the couple could grace one of the most anticipated sporting events: the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to a royal source, the couple has no plans to attend the ceremony at the moment, and that could change at the last minute.
“There has been a lot of talk about it over the last few months, but no invitations have surfaced so far, so at the moment I doubt it will happen,” royal reporter Emily Nash exclusively said. Page six this week.
She noted that although Catherine has returned to her usual royal duties, her health issue has refocused her travel priorities. Emily cited Prince William’s recent interview in which he said these trips “take a lot out of you.”
“I think he said, you’re sending and receiving all the time, which I thought was a really interesting way of putting it. You’re in a situation where you have to give 110 percent the whole time you’re out there, and you’re scrutinized every moment.”
So fans might expect to see William at some point, but Kate is unlikely to show up.
