Live streams of the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix will give us a first indication of whether Kimi Antonelli, who has now built a lead of over 40 points over George Russell in the Drivers’ Championship, can put to rest the ghosts of last year’s European leg and continue the dominant form he has shown so far this season.
Although he finished P3 in the sprint race in Canada, he bounced back strongly to take the Grand Prix victory, although helped by the car-related retirements of George Russell and Lando Norris.
The Papaya team will be looking to start fresh in Monte Carlo, especially after a horrible weekend in Montreal where they failed to score a single point between the two cars in the main race.
Ferrari could also hope to try their luck this weekend. With virtually no long straights at Monaco – which is why we won’t see Straight mode at all – one of their biggest weaknesses this season should be much less significant. Can they close the gap with the Silver Arrows?
That said, the fact remains that Monaco is the most difficult circuit on the calendar to overtake. Last year there were only four overtakes on track during the entire race, and even if this year’s cars are 10cm narrower, that is unlikely to change the fundamental nature of the race.
That’s why Saturday’s qualifying session is arguably the most important part of the weekend, as the final five winners out of seven won from Poland.
