1. Will Renegade (+190 odds) win, place or run in the 2026 Belmont Stakes?

None of the above
Renegade is the legitimate favorite in this race. He almost won the Derby after shooting a bad post (PP 1) and it’s likely that most people believe he’s the best 3-year-old in the country. He has a trainer in Todd Pletcher who knows how to win this race. He has a jacket in Irad Ortiz Jr. who knows how to win this race. When these two teamed up for a Belmont Stakes starter – which has happened four times – that horse has never been worse than second. I’m going to say Renegade is second here because there are two very strong contenders to win here: Chief Wallabee and Emerging Market. And two others, Commandment and Derby winner Golden Tempo, could also find their way to the Winners’ Circle.
Prediction: Place
2. Rank horses by BEST FINISHING POSITION at the Belmont Stakes (best to worst):
Renegade (+190)
Golden Tempo (+500)
Chief Wallabee (+375)
Command (+600)
I’m worried that Golden Tempo won’t have a strong pace here, which is why I have the Derby winner fourth in the field. Commandment’s Derby must have been a total failure, as he was roughed up early and dragged away. He had a few high stakes wins in Florida, but I think as the year goes on, Chief Wallabee and Renegade will prove better than Commandment. I really struggled with whether I should place Chief Wallabee over Renegade. I thought the Chief would win the Derby, but he just didn’t have a good trip. It always seems like it’s something with him and he can’t seem to get it done. So I say Renegade has the best finish of the four because we know he can overcome bad trips and Todd Pletcher always has his horses ready to fire in the Belmont.
Prediction: Renegade, Chief Wallabee, Command, Golden Tempo

3. Which of the following will occur?
Exacta — Renegade/Tempo
Exacta – Golden Tempo/Renegade
Renegade will finish outside the top 3
None of the above
I don’t like any of these results coming up on Saturday. I don’t exactly see a Golden Tempo/Renegade either way – with Golden Tempo winning and Renegade second – or vice versa. At the same time, I don’t see Renegade falling out of the top three either. This will earn you 10 points!
Prediction: None of the above
4. Predict Chief Wallabee’s FINAL POSITION (+375 odds):
1-3, 3-5, 5-7, 7-8+
I think Chief Wallabee plays an important role here and absolutely hits the mark. He should not have traffic problems like during the Derby. He is rested and has trained well. Bill Mott knows how to win this race and on this track. I’d be shocked if the chef didn’t touch the board.
Prediction: 1-3
5. Which horse will have the BEST FINAL POSITION at the 2026 Belmont Stakes?
Of Chad Brown’s runners, I like emerging markets the most. This is actually my choice to win the race. In the Derby, he was too close to a breakneck pace, got stuck in traffic and lost a shoe during the race. Belmont’s path to success in recent times has been a Derby runner skipping the Preakness and arriving fresh at Belmont. Emerging Markets fits this standard, as do Chief Wallabee, Renegade, Golden Tempo, and Commandment. But I’m a gambler and I’m going to land here on emerging markets.
Prediction: Emerging market
6. Will Golden Tempo (+500 odds) win, place or run in the 2026 Belmont Stakes?
While Golden Tempo won the Derby and he and his trainer Cherie DeVaux will make history for that feat, I still think Chief Wallabee, Emerging Market and Renegade, on their days with fair track and travel, have higher top-end potential than Golden Tempo. That, coupled with a slower pace for Golden Tempo, means a standout finish is likely.
Prediction: None of the above
