Kit Harington didn’t expect one of his trickiest acting challenges to come years later. Game of Thrones finished.
Speaking to his former co-star Peter Dinklage for Variety Actors on Actors, Harington admitted to filming romantic scenes with Sophie Turner in their new horror film The terrible I felt downright “gross” after spending years playing siblings/cousins on the HBO fantasy hit.
“It was weird,” the 39-year-old actor admitted.
Turner, who also served as a producer on the film, did not initially realize how many explicit scenes there were when she first asked Harrington to join the cast.
“She sent me the script and I said, ‘Sophie, there are a lot of us doing this,’” Harington recalls. “She hadn’t seen that. She just said, ‘Yeah, Kit would be good for that role.'”
The situation was particularly strange because the actors grew up together during filming. Game of Thrones. Harington explained that he “knew [Turner] since she was a child” and considers her “a younger sister”.
Despite his hesitation, Harrington ultimately signed.
“We did it. It was gross but it was okay,” he insisted. “She’s an incredible actress. I know we all know that, but she was a child when she [started on Game of Thrones]. She is phenomenal!
Turner previously admitted she had a similar reaction after revisiting the storyline. Speaking on Late Night With Seth Meyers last year, she remembers suddenly noticing all the romantic scenes and thinking, “oh shit, that’s my brother.” »
Still, both actors agreed that the project was too good to pass up, even if it made for very uncomfortable filming days.
