Darby Allin returns to AEW ‘Dynamite’ and attacks Kevin Knight with a skateboard

Kevin Knight has aligned himself with the Don Callis family in recent weeks as he looks to capitalize on an opportunity at the AEW World Championship.

Knight launched All Elite Wrestling (AEW) “Dynamite” targeting Darby Allin and “Speedball” Mike Bailey. He said fans were upset that Allin failed to retain the AEW title at Double or Nothing against Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) and that Bailey was the one who broke Team Jet Speed.

Knight called MJF but got Allin instead. Allin hit Knight with a skateboard.

“I hope New York was worth it. I hope New York was worth it, bitch,” Allin said.

Other members of the Don Callis family came out to chase Allin from the arena but the message was already sent. Instead of Knight sending it to the world champion, it was Allin sending one to “The Jet”.

Allin had not been seen since losing the title to MJF in a hair vs. title match. Knight was the one who came out at the end of the match and gave Allin a penalty. Knight hit a UFO Splash on Allin while he was strapped to a gurney.

Meanwhile, Andrade El Idolo is still waiting for Callis to fulfill his promise of a title shot against MJF. Andrade spoke to Callis later that night and the slimy manager said the shot was going to happen in the future.

Mark Briscoe charts his path to the AEW World Championship

For weeks, Mark Briscoe had challenged MJF for the AEW World Championship and the champion had brushed him aside every time. MJF claimed that Briscoe was not main event or championship material. But everything changed on Wednesday.

Briscoe picked up another big win in his singles match against Pac. He hasn’t been on the losing side since “Dynamite” on March 11, when he and the Young Bucks lost a six-man tag team match to Cash Wheeler, Dax Harwood and Tommaso Ciampa.

But Briscoe came with a plan. He said he spoke to AEW CEO Tony Khan about a world championship opportunity and a match at Forbidden Door was arranged. Briscoe and five others will face MJF and five others in a steel cage match.

If Briscoe’s team wins, he will be guaranteed a shot at the AEW World Championship. MJF reached out directly to the Don Callis family for help. Knight said he would help MJF if given a chance to win the AEW title.

Owen Hart, men’s final set

Will Ospreay fought and fought his way to the final of the Owen Hart Foundation men’s tournament with victories over Samoa Joe and Mark Davis. On the other side of the table, he awaited the winner between Swerve Strickland and Brody King.

All Ospreay had to do was watch Strickland and King put the brakes on each other while he got an extra week of rest. King survived two house calls and Strickland managed to walk through a nasty Death Valley driver in the corner and a piledriver. Strickland then hit King with a Vertebreaker to win the match. Prince Nana helped by hitting King in the head with a gun.

Strickland and Ospreay will meet in the final at Forbidden Door on June 28.

Maya World’s Owen Hart Shock

Maya World was entered into the Owen Hart Foundation women’s tournament at the very last second, with Saree not allowed to participate. Saree was about to confront Skye Blue.

World entered the match with a heavy heart as she revealed her younger brother’s death. She was fighting in honor of her late brother and hoping to achieve a feat.

She had a terrific match against Hazuki on May 30 and picked up two big wins in Ring of Honor – a singles match against Trish Adora and a tag team victory with Hyan. She also competed in the Women’s World Championship Survival of the Fittest for Ring of Honor, which Athena retained.

While the Blues had much of the momentum of the match, the World fought back. World blocked a running knee and hit Blue with a suplex. World connected with a running knee strike of his own, but only registered a two count. Both women were giving it their all to advance in the tournament in hopes of earning a shot at the AEW Women’s World Championship.

World, somehow, countered Blue’s attacks into a pinning combination and got all three. She will advance to the semi-finals and face Athena.
