This Group E match marks a historic milestone as Curaçao participates in the World Cup for the first time. In doing so, it becomes the smallest nation, in terms of population, to ever qualify.

Germany enters the World Cup on the back of nine consecutive victories in international matches, including a 2-1 victory over the United States last week.
